Who will guide my experience?

ALICE FORD

Alice Ford is an award-winning adventure filmmaker, travel host, stuntwoman, and sustainability expert. Growing up in New Hampshire, she developed a love for nature and adventure, inspired by her father's background as a ski patrolman, river guide, and traveler. Her childhood adventures included road trips, skiing, and exploring historical sites, fueling her passion for encouraging others to protect the planet.

Alice competed in gymnastics, track and field, and skiing, which helped her get into college, where she earned a Master’s in Environmental Management. Her career includes roles as a gymnastics coach, bar owner, VIP host, and stuntwoman. In 2013, she started her blog and YouTube channel, and in 2024, her show “Alice’s Adventures on Earth” debuted on PBS Stations. Since 2011, Alice has worked as a stuntwoman on major films like Transformers and Star Trek.

MARIA CARIDAD ROJAS

Co-founder and tour leader of Wild Ecuador.

An avid traveler and explorer, she has turned her passion into her business.

She has traveled to over 31 countries and lived in Asia, Oceania, and Europe.

She loves mountains and has climbed high peaks like Cotopaxi, Cayambe, and many others in the Andes and the high Amazon.

Since the pandemic, she has become a tourism activist, working to empower communities across Ecuador, especially in the Amazon region, to preserve their lands rather than sell them to mining companies and the timber industry. She also organizes trail running races in this region to boost local tourism.

Her passion for showcasing Ecuador to the world has led her to create experiences that present the country in the most authentic and local way, providing lifelong memories for every traveler.

With more than five years in this field, she has led expeditions and location scouting for international productions in the Amazon jungle, the Andes, and the Galapagos Islands.

We will have some days of trekking, . You should be an active person to fully enjoy it.

What measures do you take to ensure the safety of individuals with food allergies, such as celiac disease or lactose intolerance, during activities?

We take food allergies very seriously and strive to accommodate all dietary needs. For guests with celiac disease, we provide gluten-free options, and for those with lactose intolerance, we offer dairy-free alternatives.

Itinerary

 
Day 1 –Your Ecuadorian Adventure Starts Here  (Friday, Feb 7)

You will arrive in Quito, the second-highest capital city in the world, at an altitude of 2,820 meters (9,250 feet).
On this day, we will kick off our tour with a delicious dinner, followed by some rest to prepare for the start of our adventure.

Day 2: Horseback Adventure to Cotopaxi - (Saturday, Feb 8)

After breakfast, we will pick you up to begin an epic adventure.
Our first destination is Cotopaxi National Park, where you'll explore this magnificent area and enjoy horseback riding at the base of the mystical Andean volcano. You'll have lunch with breathtaking views before heading to Sigchos to prepare for the start of the trek. The average altitude will range from 3,500 meters (11,483 feet) to 3,800 meters (12,467 feet).

Day 3:  Sigchos - Insiliví   - (Sunday, Feb 9)

 

On this first day of trekking, you'll encounter cornfields and the purple flowers of lupines. As you descend towards the river, you'll likely spot your first llamas. This journey makes you feel like you're in the heart of the Andes, offering a glimpse into the daily lives of the locals. In Insiliví, you'll stay at a lodge surrounded by mountains and volcanoes.

The trek will take about 5-6 hours, covering 12 km (7.46 mi) with an ascent of 300 meters (984 feet). Average altitudes: 2,600 meters (8,530 feet) to 2,900 meters (9,514 feet).

Andes Ecuador Wild Ecuador

Day 4 -  Insiliví - Chugchilán  - (Monday, Feb 10)

 

Today's trek will lead you to the Toachi River Canyon, formed by pyroclastic flows from the Quilotoa Volcano. This impressive geographical feature is a large ravine, often referred to as the backbone between the towns of Zumbahua and Sigchos. Along the way, you'll pass through small communities and encounter local wildlife living in harmony with the environment. Upon arriving in Sigchos, you'll enjoy a delicious dinner.

The hike takes place at altitudes ranging from 2,896 meters (9,501 feet) to 3,295 meters (10,810 feet) above sea level, covering a distance of 12 kilometers (7.5 miles).a level.

Day 5 .- Chugchilán - Quilotoa - Tigua  - (Tuesday, Feb 11)

Have you ever yearned to step back in time and experience the deep connection that indigenous communities once shared with nature? Today, that dream becomes a reality.

A magnificent view of the Quilotoa crater volcano awaits, reachable through an invigorating trek that winds around the turquoise lake (10 km / 6.2 miles · 400 m+ / 1,312 ft+). This journey will transport you to a time of harmony and reverence for the natural world. While words cannot fully capture the beauty of this place, we are confident you will find one that resonates with its essence.

To conclude our day, we will settle into a historic hacienda, where we will explore the culinary delights of the Andes and savor the organic bounty of this charming Andean corner. Rest peacefully amidst the towering Andean peaks and fields of barley, wheat, and corn.

Quilotoa Lake is a stunning volcanic crater lake located in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador

Day 6 .-  Tigua - Baños  - (Wednesday, Feb 12)

Today, Baños, nestled between the Andes and the Amazon, becomes our launchpad for an adventure that bridges two worlds. We’ll trade mountain peaks for jungle wonders with a challenging yet rewarding trek to the iconic Casa del Árbol, a treehouse offering panoramic views. Prepare for a 937-meter (3,074-foot) ascent, rewarded by breathtaking vistas of lush Andean slopes stretching as far as the eye can see. The trek covers approximately 4 kilometers (2.5 miles), showcasing vibrant vegetation and pristine nature along the way.

Back in Baños, a delicious local dinner awaits, fueling us for tomorrow’s exploration of the Amazon. This charming town, brimming with natural beauty and cultural richness, provides the perfect pit stop before we dive deep into the rainforest. Rest well, for the magic of the Amazon awaits!

Day 7.- Baños - Tena (Rafting & Healing Rituals) - (Thursday, Feb 13)

The Amazon's embrace tightens in Pastaza province. Today, the mighty Jatunyaku River becomes our guide. We'll raft its crystal-clear waters, navigating exhilarating rapids as the rainforest unfolds its emerald majesty. Towering trees, vibrant flora, and exotic creatures paint a breathtaking picture.

In the afternoon, we encounter the Achimamas, revered healers steeped in ancestral knowledge. These women dedicate themselves to healing body and spirit. Prepare for a "limpia," a cleansing ritual performed with their wise hands. This ceremony aims to harmonize your energy, leaving you lighter and invigorated for your journey ahead.

Rafting in the jungle

Day 8 .-  Tena - Quito (Amazonian Tranquility, Culinary Delights, and a Fond Farewell) - (Friday, Feb 14,)

 

Indulge in a well-deserved respite amidst the Amazon's embrace, where tranquility and rejuvenation await. Surrender to the tranquility of the Amazon as you immerse yourself in pampering experiences, allowing your body and mind to fully unwind.

Savor a delectable organic lunch, lovingly prepared by the hands of the Kichwa community, using the freshest Amazonian ingredients. Embark on a culinary journey as you discover the unique flavors and traditional uses of Amazonian ingredients, passed down through generations of Kichwa knowledge.

As the day draws to a close, join us for a heartwarming farewell dinner in Quito, where we'll gather to reminisce about our shared adventures, savor delectable cuisine, and create lasting memories. Let's raise a glass to the unforgettable experiences we've shared, the friendships we've forged, and the profound connection we've made with the Amazon's magic.

Day 9 .- Back Home (Saturday, Feb 15)

Our Ecuadorian journey has come to an end. We depart with enriching experiences, unforgettable memories, and breathtaking landscapes etched in our minds. Hearts filled with joy, we return home ready to share our stories. The adventure may be over, but the essence of Ecuador lingers on.

Terms and Conditions for Tour Booking

1. Initial Deposit:

  • To secure your reservation, a deposit of 700 USD is required at the time of booking.

  • The remaining balance must be paid in full no later than 60 days before the tour start date.

2. Tour Confirmation:

  • A minimum of 4 participants is required for the tour to proceed.

  • Until the minimum number of participants is reached, the 25% deposit is refundable if the client cancels the booking.

3. Cancellation Policy:

  • Once the tour is confirmed with 4 participants, the 25% deposit becomes non-refundable.

  • If a participant decides to cancel after the tour is confirmed, the 25% deposit will not be refunded but can be applied as credit toward a future tour within one year from the original tour date.

  • If the client cancels the tour before the confirmation of the 4 participants and requests a refund of the 25% deposit, the refund will be made via bank transfer to an account provided by the client. The refund will be subject to a 3% deduction from the deposit to cover credit card transaction fees.

4. Final Payment:

  • The final payment, which corresponds to the remaining  of the tour value, must be made 60 days before the tour start date.  (December 9, 2024).

  • If full payment is not received within the stipulated time frame, we reserve the right to cancel your reservation and apply the relevant cancellation policies.

This tour is ruled by terms and conditions.

Arrival & Departure Transport

  • Arrival: We provide transfers from Quito´s Airport  to your hotel on the day before the tour begins and on the actual tour start date.

  • Departure: We offer transfers  the last day of the tour.
