Trail Running Retreat Overview

This unique trail running adventure begins in Quito, Ecuador’s historic capital, where you'll walk through its beautiful UNESCO-listed colonial center. From there, you'll head to Cotopaxi, the highest active volcano in the country. Running through its wild landscapes, featuring vast páramos and crystal-clear streams, you'll experience an unparalleled sense of freedom and connection to nature.

The journey continues deeper into the Andes, leading you to the peaceful village of Insiliví, a serene gateway to the heart of the mountains. Running along these trails, you'll feel the ancient energy of the Andes while enjoying spectacular views.

One of the highlights of the trip is running along the edge of the extinct volcano Quilotoa, whose highest peak reaches an altitude of 3,914 meters. Here, a stunning turquoise lagoon rests in the crater, with its waters changing colors with the light, creating a surreal landscape that will leave you breathless.

Next, the adventure takes you to Chimborazo, the closest point on Earth to the Sun (measured from the Earth's core). At this site, you’ll visit the Machai Temple, an ancient sacred site of the Puruhá people, and marvel at the lunar-like landscape, where the rare Chimborazo hummingbirds flutter through the air, adding an ethereal touch to the experience.

After the high-altitude challenge of the Andes, you'll descend to the lush, tropical lowlands of Baños de Agua Santa, where the climate and scenery change dramatically. Here, your trail running will guide you swiftly into the Amazonian lowlands, offering a magical contrast of landscapes and weather.

In just a few hours, you’ll arrive in Napo Province, deep in the Amazon jungle, where you'll navigate the Jatunyaku River, a region rich in biodiversity and indigenous culture. Running through the pristine rainforest, surrounded by vibrant flora and exotic wildlife, you'll also have the opportunity to raft along the tranquil rivers, immersing yourself fully in this natural paradise.

This journey offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience Ecuador’s diverse landscapes, from the towering peaks of the Andes to the depths of the Amazon. Along the way, you’ll forge connections with like-minded trail runners, enjoy Ecuador’s rich local culture and cuisine, and create unforgettable memories that will stay with you forever.

Note to the runners:
This trail running retreat is not about speed — it’s about the joy of discovery and running at your own pace.
We’ve designed this experience to ensure everyone can enjoy and fully immerse themselves in the incredible landscapes. To make this possible, we have three expert guides who will be with you every step of the way, allowing each participant to craft their own unique running adventure.
